RACHEL Johnson has talked about how her brother Boris withdrew from the race to become Prime Minister because he was “stabbed in the back and front” by Michael Gove.

The 52-year-old Celebrity Big Brother star made her feelings about the MP for Surrey Heath during a chat with her housemates Anne Widdecomb and Amanda Barrie.

Speaking about his failed leadership bid, Rachel explained: “He withdrew at the last minute, Gove got up and said he was standing himself.

“At which point the hundred or so MPs who said they would support my brother’s leadership contest, I think, 60 of them disappeared.

“So he was without a sufficiency that he would have been guaranteed the final two.

“He went from 100 to 20 or something during that course.

“He just didn’t have the numbers after Gove stabbed him in the back and front in plain sight to carry on

“I think he should have done.

“I shouted at the TV, ‘Don’t give up’. I couldn’t believe he gave up!

“It was absolutely shattering.”

Before signing up to Celebrity Big Brother, Rachel had previously insisted she would never take part in reality TV.

In 2013 she wrote in her column for The Daily Mail:  “We have all been asked to do things that we probably shouldn’t do.

“A few years ago, I was asked to do a shoot for a gentleman’s glossy (hard to believe, I know), and I am still invited to grace reality TV shows – most recently I rejected the chance to appear on Splash with diver Tom Daley on the grounds that I look hideous in a bathing cap.

“Although the money is tempting and it’s always lovely to be asked, I have – so far – managed to say no.

“If you want to be taken the slightest bit seriously for your day job (I agree this yearning is a stretch in my case) you have to decline.“
